I'm sorry for causing a bit of drama, but the amount of people on this page who are disgusted by taxidermy has overwhelmed me to bring up a valid point. I understand and respect their views and opinions, and am not arguing against this, but simply trying to persuade them that taxidermy is a great thing.

I've noticed that a lot of people upset over this have been upset because obviously, in order to participate in taxidermy, the animal must be dead. While it is true that some animals are found as roadkill and used, a lot of it comes from hunting. Hunting is actually an act of mercy in some cases to prevent overpopulation.

Imagine if you were a deer living in the forest. Imagine if hunting did not take place in this world. While predators would take out some of the deer, it would not be enough to prevent overpopulation problems. Eventually, the deer population would be so vast that there would not be any food or water.

If overpopulation were to take place in my forest if I were a deer, I would much rather have a quick or semi-quick death than suffering a slow and painful death of starvation or dehydration.

I respect deer and they are one of my favorite animals, and for animals that have little to no predators such as foxes and wolves, hunting is even more important as overpopulation will grow rapidly due to foxes and wolves having multiple pups/cubs in each litter. It is sad that some animals have to die in order for their kin to grow and eventually reproduce themselves, but it is much more acceptable than allowing an animal to suffer in ways that overpopulation would surely bring.

Taxidermy comes into play in many ways. some people are sickened by taxidermy, which is understandable, and some are even sickened if a person takes a photograph of an already-dead animal. I would view it as a sign of respect. While cats and dogs and other domestic animals touch a part of our hearts and will never be forgotten once they pass on, animals that live outside of captivity, although they do have families of their own, will eventually be forgotten. By taking a picture of an animal, dead or alive, is proof that somebody cared about it enough to take a few seconds out of their life and snap a picture of it, and share it with others.

Taxidermy, in my opinion, is an even greater respect. Taxidermists would not take the time and effort to do the many, MANY things they do to these deceased animals if they didn't care, or were only in the hobby for the money it brings.

I really hope my two cents doesn't cause any drama! I am simply trying to enlighten those who may not be able to recognize such a view until now.
